Psalm 66 Refined by Fire and Water

Praise our God, all peoples,
let the sound of praise be heard;
God has preserved our lives
and kept our feet from slipping.
For God tested us;
and refined us like silver.
You brought us into prison
and laid burdens on our backs.
You let people ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance.

When the ancients purified gold and silver they would heat the metal until the impurities floated to the top.
A silversmith would skim off the contaminants.
He knew the ore was pure when he could see his face in the reflection.
God has brought you through for a purpose.
When we go through fires God is not trying to destroy us, but to bring out that reflection of Christ's face.
Let the world see God's reflection in you.

The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
