Judges 6: 100 to 1 Faith

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied,
“But if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?"
"Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about?"

When the angel of the Lord appeared, Gideon had been forced into radical social distancing.
He was hiding in a hole, trying to grind out his daily bread.
I wonder if he was telecommuting too?
Maybe on a zoom meeting?
Good news, said the angel! You are BLESSED!
Gideon spat back his words.
I sure don't FEEL blessed!
Why has all this happened?
Why aren't things like they were in the GOOD old days?
It's a good question.
Wouldn't it be great to go back to when we thought Corona was beer from Mexico?
Ah, the good old days!
Yeah, I know God is with us.
But it's hard to feel blessed when we're hiding behind a mask.
It took a while for God to convince Gideon.
You don't have to look in the rear view mirror to find good old days.
And you don't have to wait for the bad stuff to go away before you can be strong and blessed.
You don't find blessing because your circumstances change.
Your circumstances change when you know God is with you.
Gideon knew the problems were too big for him.
He was outnumbered 100 to 1.
But 100 to 1 odds aren't bad, when God is the one.
Today in your zoom hole, God is with you.
On your telecommute, God is with you.
We can't change our circumstances.
But God is with you, and you are blessed...
And that changes everything.
