Luke 24: Breaking Bread

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.

For Christians this story reminds us of the Communion Table. But this wasn't a sacramental meal. It was just supper.
But maybe that's the point.
It's not just Communion that is Holy. Every meal is sacred when we give thanks and welcome Jesus to the table. Every family meal can be Holy. And a good covered dish fellowship meal is just as sacred as the Sacrament.
It's been a while since we've had a dinner in the fellowship hall. I'm looking forward to some fried chicken, three bean salad, and home made desserts. SOON.
And I'm pretty sure Jesus is too. I know He'll be there when we break bread together. All we have to do is give thanks and look around.
