Advent Devotion, Genesis 2:7
Back to the Plan
----------------
Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being.

Remember that Logos we've been talking about for a couple of weeks? The Idea--the Plan--the Concept--that God had in mind before the first Word of Creation? Part of God's plan was to fill humanity with God's Breath--the Spirit-- so we could become living souls. The hand of God formed us from the earth. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. But until God's spirit gives us life, we are just empty shells.
I've known people who seem to be alive but have no breath within them. They go through the motions of living, but they died years ago and are just waiting for their bodies to catch up. I've known people whose bodies were dying, but whose spirits could not be quenched. The Breath of Life filled them with strength until their bodies could no longer keep up.
From the beginning it has been part of God's plan to fill you with Spirit Breath. The Breath of God is the difference between living and existing. Oh, and that Spirit has another name. Sometimes we call it LOVE.
