Monday Scripture: Isaiah 2
Study War No More
-------------------
Many peoples will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they study war anymore.
-------------------
That promise of peace has been coming for a long time
The Gospel writers often say the promise is "at hand"
That means you can touch it, but you can't quite grasp it
If you ever dropped something and it rolled under the car, you know what that means
You can see it--you can touch it--but you can't quite reach it
The prophet's promise of peace is still outside our reach
But if we look, we can see it
If we reach for it, we can touch it
If we study peace, we can learn it
-------------------
Gonna lay down my burden
Down by the riverside
I ain't gonna study war no more
