Eagle
Friday Scripture: Psalm 103
Renewed Like the Eagle
------------------------
Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.

Three days ago we read Psalm 102, from the depths of despair.
On the very next page, this song soars with images of joy and strength.
It's not surprising that this lofty psalm has been set to music far more often than its dark neighbor.
The Psalms are a book of life, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
It's good to know it's all there--the lows and the highs.
The next time your heart is breaking, I encourage you to read Psalm 102.
Out loud.
Shout it to God.
And write a date beside it.
Then turn the page and read Psalm 103.
If you can't own it, don't read it aloud... Not yet.
But write the words, "Coming soon!" in the margin.
Write: "Date __ / __ / __ ?"
When that day comes, forget not His benefits.
Fill in the date on Psalm 103, and write, "Fulfilled."
Keeping a record of those dates will fulfill scripture for you.
And your youth will be renewed like the eagle.
