Bones
Thursday Scripture: Ezekiel 37
Can these bones live?
----------------------
God grabbed me.
God’s Spirit took me up and set me down in the middle of an open plain strewn with bones. He led me around and among them—a lot of bones! There were bones all over the plain—dry bones, bleached by the sun.
He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
I said, “Master God, only you know that.”
He said to me, “Speak to these bones: ‘Dry bones, listen to the Word of God!’”

Halloween is big business, second only to Christmas in consumer spending in the US.
Human beings like spooky images: ghosts and ghouls and creepy skeletons.
But as a third wave of the pandemic begins, Ezekiel's question takes on more meaning.
Perhaps the poisonous nature of our current election cycle adds even more urgency to the question.
Can these bones live?
Short answer: Nope.
Dead is dead and that's that.
But God loves to breathe new life into impossible situations.
God told Ezekiel that miracle needs two moving parts:
The Word of God, and somebody willing to say it.
God's word is eternal, but the miracles don't start until somebody steps forward to speak...
To remind the world...
To remind ourselves...
The Creator's word is life.
New life. Abundant life. Resurrection life.
And it starts when somebody speaks life in the midst of death.
The REAL miracle is when God finds somebody who is willing to speak God's word in the face of the headlines.
Could it be you?

Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones.
Now hear the word of the Lord.
