Tuesday Scripture: Daniel 5
The Hand Writing on the Wall
------------------------------
So they brought in the gold goblets that had been taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them.
As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone.
Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the wall. The king watched the hand as it wrote.
His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his legs became weak and his knees were knocking.
------------------------------
"The handwriting is on the wall!"
People use that phrase all the time--even folks who have never read the book of Daniel.
The power elite were having a party, celebrating their own might and wealth, when a hand appeared writing on the King's wall. Everyone saw it. Everyone could read it. But no one could understand it.
Once again, the smart people had to call in God's people to tell them what it meant.
In 2020, there are LOTS of signs written on LOTS of walls. Every day we get a new list of the signs of the times. We can't pay attention to ALL of them. Which ones are important? Which ones are matters of life and death? Which ones just don't matter?
LOTS of people claim they've already got that figured out. Here's a hint: NONE of them are that smart.
God is the only one who knows which signs to read... and what they really mean. So turn off the news and PRAY more. Trust God more.
The handwriting is on the wall. Only God knows what it means.
