What's the Problem?
--------------------
Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to you the problems you are asking about."
"But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries."
--------------------
In Daniel's day the king had a problem.
He was surrounded by so many clever people and talking heads with so many self-contradictory answers, that he was no longer sure what questions to ask.
He put out an ultimatum.
Tell me the problem first--THEN tell me the solution!
"B-b-b-b-b-ut King," they stammered, "Nobody knows that!"
The king settled on a drastic but effective solution.
Just kill them all.
But there was one among them who was wiser than the rest.
It wasn't because Daniel was smarter than the wise men.
It wasn't because he was more clever than the magicians.
It wasn't because he was slicker than the talking heads.
It was because he knew the One who knew the answers.
He prayed, and God revealed the mysteries to him.
Today we are surrounded by so many smooth talkers and clever people with so many self-contradictory answers.
No one can agree on the problem, much less the solution.
Fortunately, we don't have to resort to drastic measures.
Just hit the "OFF" button.
Then ask the One who knows all the answers--
What problems must I face today?
And what is YOUR answer Lord?
-----------------
O God as this world re-opens in the face of the unknown,
We are faced with more problems than solutions.
I don't know which experts to trust or what problems I must face today.
But I do know you,
And you know all the problems and all the answers.
Make me wise enough to trust your wisdom beyond my own,
And to trust you beyond all the wisdom of this age.
