Tuesday Scripture: Romans 5
2020 Hospitality
---------------
Love must be sincere.
Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Share with the Lord’s people who are in need.
Practice hospitality.
---------------
Paul says Christians should live by the law of love.
That sounds like a good idea.
But then he goes on and explains how to do that.
Most of these things do not come naturally to me.
I'm not very patient in affliction.
Sometimes I'm not joyful and faithful.
Of all the things on this list, the one that comes naturally to me is hospitality--
And I didn't learn that without help.
My grandmother was a single mom of 5, living in the coal fields on a cook's wages.
But she never failed to have room at the table for one more.
She lived through the depression, but she never saw anything like 2020.
It's hard to show hospitality today--perhaps impossible.
But all those other things Paul listed are pretty close to impossible, too.
They're not natural.
In fact, they're SUPERnatural.
Paul only wrote this stuff because he actually thought GOD could do all these things THROUGH you.
Even show hospitality.
Even in 2020.
