Monday Scripture: Luke 9
A Vision?
---------
Jesus took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.
As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning, as he was transfigured before them.
---------
What was this mountain top experience?
A dream?
A vision?
A glimpse of paranormal experience?
Or might it be that it was a glimpse of God's reality that they had been missing all along?
As the officiant at a wedding, one great privilege is that when the music starts and the doors open, I am the first to see the bride.
Without fail, she is transfigured.
There is a glow and majesty about her we've never seen before.
Even a woman of humble features is transformed into radiant beauty.
Is that a moment when our eyes deceive us?
Or is that the moment we see the truth about her?
When I first cast eyes upon our grandchild, I was speechless.
There were other grandparents in the NICU.
The silly boogers thought THEIR grandchildren were the most beautiful babies they had ever seen.
It was obvious to me--our grandchild was the most beautiful child in history.
My eyes were transfigured by that experience.
What was the last time you had a transfiguration moment?
A vision?
A dream?
A glimpse of God's reality?
What was the last time you asked God to send a vision?
The prayer and the transfiguration usually go together.
Today, pray that God will let you see heavenly reality.
