Ecclesiastes 7: Moderation

Do not be too righteous,
neither be too wise—
why destroy yourself?
Do not be too wicked,
and do not be a fool—
why die before your time?
It is good to grasp the one
and not let go of the other.
Whoever fears God will avoid all extremes.

Moderates do not make good press.
Zealots and extremists get all the headlines.
But there is timeless wisdom here.
Too much of anything will make you crazy.
Too much right.
Too much left.
Too much power.
Too much wealth.
Too much wisdom.
And yes, too much religion.
Wait, did I really read that in the BIBLE?
That can't be right, can it?
Maybe it's just honest truth.
Only when you are honest about your own demons can you truly celebrate your salvation...
And be truly sane.
So don't try to be too good today.
It will make you crazy.
Worse yet, it might even make headlines.
