Friday Scripture and Prayer: Nehemiah 4
Pray and Post a Guard
-----------
We prayed to our God
and posted a guard, day and night,
to meet this threat.
-----------
Nehemiah and his flock were doing something great.
They were coming home to a place they had never been before.
Jerusalem was in ruins.
They were not rebuilding the old city of God.
They were building a new one.
That sounds like a pretty good idea.
But at every step, they faced opposition.
People wanted to pull down everything they were doing.
There were threats of mob violence--even death threats.
Anytime God moves, there is opposition.
Sometimes it is dark and angry.
But God's people knew what to do:
They prayed to God
And posted a guard.
In these uncertain times, God is not calling us to go back and rebuild 2019.
We're entering a new normal where we've never been before.
We're building something new.
God is moving in some bold new ways.
And there is going to be anger and opposition.
Health officials are urging us to keep our guard up.
That's a good idea.
You should do that... AFTER you pray.
Both steps are still necessary.
Ask God to protect you.
TRUST God to protect you.
And post a guard.
Then you can build something new and bold.

I'm a working on building
I'm a working on building
I'm a working on building
For my Lord, for my Lord
It's a holy ghost building
It's a holy ghost building
It's a holy ghost building
For my Lord, for my Lord
