Matthew 1:46-49
Generations will call you blessed
------------------
And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
--------------------
Mary's story is not sweet.
Or easy.
Or painless.
An unplanned pregnancy, childbirth alone and far from home,
No place to stay, and a vengeful king on the warpath.
And that was just the first couple of years.
Later she tried to talk Jesus out of being a preacher.
Come home and get back to work.
He didn't listen.
Before it was over she watched her son tried under false charges.
He was tortured, humiliated, and died a horrible death.
No mom should have to go through that.
But God used her painful story to be part of the greatest story ever told.
The real miracle of the story is this:
When the angel presented the plan,
Mary said yes. I'm in.
In God's hands, all generations call her blessed.
If God could do that with her story,
What could God do with YOUR story?
We're going through a tough time, a painful time
Could it be that God wants to use your pain to make a beautiful story?
God's got a plan for this mess.
God knows 2020 hasn't been sweet or easy or painless.
God wants the whole world to see you're blessed, even in tough times.
God wants to use your story to create something great.
You in?
