Isaiah 6: Send Me
--------
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

At times the size and scope of the pandemic just seem overwhelming. What can one person do in the face of such a massive need?
Today I thank God for my friends Maria and
Delwin
. When they heard about the desperate situation in Indian Country during the pandemic they said, "Send me." They loaded up a 26 foot trailer and headed to reservations, carrying PPE, blankets, and food.
At one point on their journey an elderly woman waved to stop their truck. "May I have a blanket," she asked? They gave her blankets and food and masks.
It reminds me of a story about an old man and a little girl on the beach after a storm. Thousands of starfish had been washed up by the surf. The little girl was putting starfish--one at a time--into the sea. The old man scoffed. "You're wasting your time. An army of volunteers couldn't save all these starfish. Your efforts won't make any difference."
The little girl went right on. Each time she put a starfish in the water she said. "Made a difference to that one."
Here am I. Send me.
