Jeremiah 6--Peace, Peace, when there is no Peace
----------
From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.”
----------
Yesterday we started a 40 day journey to claim our God-given gifts and face our weakness.
Part of that journey is facing our wounds and scars. Warriors know what it is to return victorious but wounded. We used to call it shell shock. Now we call it PTSD.
It bothers me that PTSD has become so trivial. People who drop their cell phone or can't get their favorite flavor of ice cream claim PTSD.
But it bothers me even more when our leaders try to heal our wounds lightly. Everything is fine here. Nothing to see. Move along. It's all good.
We've all been wounded by the past couple of years. But scars are not necessarily bad things. Even the resurrected Savior bears the scars of his suffering. In God's hands those scars are reminders of victory.
Jesus does not take your wounds lightly. The day is coming when he will wipe away your very last tear with his scarred hand.
That day won't come quickly or easily, but it's coming. This 40 day vision quest is taking you ever closer to that day.
Don't try to hide your tears. Just let Jesus touch them.

He touched me, oh he touched me
And oh the joy that floods my soul
Something happened and now I know
He touched me and made me whole
