Genesis 1:2-3 Let there be Light

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

This darkness was not the mere absence of light. It was deep darkness. Darkness you can feel down to your soul.
It was the darkness of the ICU waiting room... The cancer diagnosis... The divorce court... The blind rage... The numb despair... The sealed tomb...
Every one of us has known that deep darkness. No light bulb can drive it away.
God still loves to move silently into your darkness--a pregnant pause to knit a secret plan. Then God speaks and there is light. A light more powerful than the sun. A light that gives hope, and reason, and life.
And the light is good.
