Ecclesiastes 8: Eat, Drink, and Be Merry
---------
So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.

Today is Fat Tuesday, AKA Mardi Gras. In the United Kingdom it's called Pancake Day. (Yes, really!) Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, a season of fasting--so Tuesday is the day to eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we diet.
As far as I know there are no carnivals, street festivals, or parades to celebrate the season of fasting and self denial. The past year has been an extended time of self denial and reclusion. Maybe that makes this Mardi Gras more important than ever.
Fasting is an important (if unpopular) spiritual discipline. Enjoying life is also important. Take time to enjoy your life today--it's later than you think.
