Genesis 2: Naming Creation
--------
Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

To the ancient mind, a name was more than a name. It captured the very essence. Names had power.
That's still true. The human critter still names everything--and everyone. Unfortunately, today that task is often relegated to the news outlets of choice. Liberal, Conservative, Demican, Republicrat, Black, White, etc., etc., etc.
Be careful. Those names still have power. Once you name someone you have defined their essence. But you still have the power to bestow good names. Sister, Brother, Neighbor, Friend. Choose those names carefully for whatever you call someone, that will be who they are to you.
