Matthew 5: Thankful for the Light
-----------------
You are the light of the world.
A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
-----------------
I was born in the city of Aurora--the city of lights. It was the first town in America to employ public electric lights, but it was called Aurora way before that. The name started when the city founder built a campfire on a hill.
In the dark, any kind of light is a powerful beacon. When we're in a time of anger, chaos, and darkness any light at all shows brightly.
The lamps of Jesus' day were not big. They were palm sized clay pitchers of olive oil and a wick. They didn't have much candlepower. But in the dark, they were enough.
You don't need to create a huge light to make a difference today. Just let your little light shine. The world will give thanks for your light.
It's more than enough.
-----------------
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine, shine, shine, all the time
