Friday Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3
Enjoy Your Life
---------------
Humanity and animals come to the same end—
people die, animals die.
We all breathe the same air.
So there’s really no advantage in being human.
Our high opinion of ourselves is nothing more than vanity.
We all end up in the same place—
we came from dust, we end as dust.
Nobody knows for sure that the human spirit rises to heaven or that the animal spirit sinks into the earth.
So I made up my mind that there’s nothing better for us women and men than to enjoy life—that’s our lot.
For who knows what lies beyond this life?
---------------
Some folks think Ecclesiastes is the work of a pessimist.
I disagree.
It stands as a blunt reminder that we don't KNOW what comes after this life.
We've got faith. We've got hope. And that's good.
But all we KNOW is this life in this world.
We are not heavenly beings floating above God's Creation.
We are part of this incredible world.
God gave you the awesome gift of life on this amazing Creation so you could ENJOY life and glorify God.
And if you can't find enough blessings in that gift to enjoy THIS day, what makes you think you would enjoy the life to come?
There are no refunds for the days you spend being miserable.
So don't waste a single breath of life wishing for something else... not even the world to come.
ENJOY life today.
Even though it's 2020.
Even though we're wearing masks.
Even though it's an election year.
Today never happened before and it's never coming back.
So enjoy this day like your life depends on it!
This is the gift of God.
