Historians and music enthusiasts alike are aware that American music has grown from the mingling of black and white traditions.
It's too often forgotten or denied that Native people--whose cultures and traditions were turned upside down--have contributed so much to American music and the arts.
Always from the edges of society, their contributions have often been seen as uncivilized and dangerous.
Did you know that the ONLY instrumental song--with no lyrics at all--to be banned from the radio as a dangerous influence on youth, was by a Native American guitarist named Link Wray? Yep, that song was "Rumble."
Check out this great movie named for that "dangerous" record.
