Friday Devotion: Psalm 46
Be Still
-------
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.
-------
When Christ calmed the storm he said, "Peace, be still."
The disciples did not know what to say.
All they could do was ask, "What kinda guy is this?"
Sometimes in the storms, the words don't come.
We know God will be exalted.
We know God will calm these storms.
But we don't know what to make of it all.
On those days the answer is still, "Peace, be still."
-------
Master, the tempest is raging
Oh, the billows are tossing high
The sky is o'ershadowed with blackness
Oh, no shelter or help is nigh
Carest thou not that we perish?
How canst we lie, how canst thou lie asleep
Asleep when each moment so madly is threatning
A grave, a grave, a grave in the angry deep?
Get up, Jesus, because
The winds and the waves shall obey thy will
All you got to say is
Peace, be still
Peace, be still
Peace, be still
Peace, be still
Whether the wrath of the storm-tossed sea
Or demons, or men, or whatever it be
No water can swallow the ship where lies
The master of ocean and earth and sky
They all shall sweetly obey thy will
Peace, peace, be still
They all shall sweetly obey thy will
Peace, peace, peace, be still
